Mogollon Rim Elopement in Northern, Arizona

If you aren’t from Arizona, you may not know the term Mogollon Rim, or Rim Country, but let me show you why you should! The Mogollon Rim is roughly a 200-mile-long limestone and granite cliff carved diagonally across the state of Arizona, reaching elevations of 7,000 to 8,000 feet above sea level.

If you are looking for epic cliffs, tranquil lakes and streams surrounded by pine trees, and cooler weather, look no further than Northeastern Arizona for a woodsy escape up on the Colorado Plateau.

While not completely unknown, this area draws significantly less traffic than neighboring Sedona and Flagstaff to the West, making it a perfect place to enjoy a summer Arizona wedding. With views that many could confuse for parts of Southern Colorado or Utah, Rim country has many breathtaking elopement location choices ranging from easily accessible to wild and untamed backcountry. Colorful wildflower fields, snow capped tree branches, and wildlife galore are just a few of the unexpected finds you can find in this section of Arizona.

Pro-Tip: Although you will be surrounded by evergreen, Rim Country is still considered high desert, so be prepared to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and avoid elevation sickness if coming from lower elevations.

Tiffany and Steven’s Adventure Bridal Portrait Session on the Mogollon Rim, Arizona

Tiffany and Steven chose to have a small ceremony amongst their family and friends at an Air BnB in Flagstaff, but chose a day after Adventure Bridal Portrait session to give them time to really sink into each other and what being married meant to them. They chose the Mogollon Rim area for it’s epic views and icy lakes. During the winter months, even more visited locations along the Rim tend to be very private as it is considered the off season.
