An Adventurous Sedona wedding

Jen and Orin travelled all the way from Missouri for their western meets boho Sedona Elopement. They said their vows surrounded by their immediate family and Sedona’s famous red rocks.

Jen and Orin’s improbable relationship began after sharing a shuttle at the end of a friend’s wedding they both attended. Something drew them to one another, even though they lived states apart. Orin grew up as a rough and tumble country boy, and Jen fell in love with his calm and easy demeanor. After their long distance relationship continued to flourish, Jen moved to Missouri to embrace the country life. Their love of the outdoors brought them together, so it only made sense to embrace their love of nature for their wedding day!

Getting Ready

We began the day at their AirBNB to get ready. Jen’s mom helped her into her stunning lace and tulle dress with beading and a gorgeous fluttery cape. She finished the outfit off with beautiful pearl drop earrings and white sneakers to prepare for all the hiking and climbing that was to come. For the bouquet, Jen selected white and peach roses with some thistle and feather accents. Orin selected an outfit perfect for his laid back personality; cowboy boots, jeans, red dress shirt, dress jacket and of course an off white cowboy hat to top it off.

After getting dressed, Orin gave his brother some beautiful turquoise cuff links as a special thank you for being the officiant for their wedding. He also opened a custom gift from Jen- an engraved compass as a symbol of his dependable direction and loyalty. Little did we know, this would come up again later on in the day!

After a quick first look, we all loaded up in vehicles to head to the trailhead parking for their ceremony out in the Coconino Forest.

Ceremony & Sunset Portraits

We hiked as a family out to an open terrace surrounded with views of some of Sedona’s most famous rock formations- Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and Courthouse Butte. As we all took in the incredible views, Orin’s brother had everyone come in close to complete a ring warming ceremony. A ring warming ceremony is when everyone in attendance passes the rings around to pray and wish good vibes over them. Once completed, both Jen and Orin’s moms came up to stand beside them. They placed their hands on their backs to welcome them into their family. Orin and Jen then exchanged rings and were married!

After the ceremony was completed, we spent some time with the family for congratulations and family photos until we finally had to say goodbye and set off on our own for couples photos. Orin’s best man was sad to see us go. He is the official third wheel of their relationship.

We set off to climb some of the area overlooks, exploring all the different views as we circled our way back towards the parking area. Jen and Orin even had a chance to share a dance on top of the mountain, laughing and celebrating their day.

Reception

Once the photos were finished, we made a quick stop at the AirBNB to grab the wedding gift that Orin’s dad had given him. To everyone’s shock and surprise, it was an engraved compass! Neither he nor Jen knew that they were getting Orin the same gift. I believe it is a testament to the kind of man Orin is- steadfast and true. Everyone had a laugh about it and it made the night even more magical.

We ended the night at Steakhouse 89 with an intimate reception complete with a first dance, lighthearted speeches, and cake cutting.

It was the perfect end to an amazing day!
