Answers to common questions

I book out 12-18 months in advance for prime months. But don’t let that scare you away from reaching out. Depending on my schedule, I have been able to squeeze in couple’s as soon as the same week in some cases. The great thing about specializing in non-traditional weddings is that they fall on all days of the week, not just weekends!

I will help you work out your actual timeline as we go through your ideal day, working with your other vendors in partnership to make your vision come to life. This is why a discovery call is so important, to go through options based on your priorities.

Most of my couples book me for half or full day coverage. Many of my couples who love the epic landscape shots they see prevalent in my work add a day after Adventure Session for their portraits with just the three of us.

I do not offer mini sessions or super short elopement coverage. Below are the minimum packages I offer.

  • Cliff note- last minute elopements– beginning at up to 3 hours at one gentle access location*
  • Local Elopements– Begin at Half Days (5 hours)
  • Local Weddings– Begin at Half Day (6 hours)
  • Portrait Sessions– Begin at 2 hours

*extremely limited availability, only able to be scheduled within 90 days of the elopement

This is a great question, because sometimes these two can have overlap depending on your specific needs.

Elopements and Micro-Weddings *may* have a venue for a portion of the day, but much of the experience involves hiking, off-roading, or other form of outdoor activity that is just for the two of you away from your guests.

Larger weddings tend to be venue-centric with less location planning and travel on the actual day of your wedding. I include engagement sessions (adventure included!), vendor coordination, and the option for a second photographer. Many of my couples who have a larger, more traditional wedding day opt for a day after adventure session to get those epic, more difficult to reach locations for couples portraits. For destination couples, the engagement session can be exchanged for the day after session!

Choosing an elopement or wanting adventurous nature portraits does not mean you have to hike a mountain! There are plenty of gorgeous gentle access locations available.

There are a couple ways to handle the legalities. If you want to do it all together, I am happy to sign your paperwork for you if you prefer private vows to a ceremony. You can also handle the legal part back home and do the ceremonial part out in nature to avoid the stress of having to get a license during your trip. That said, I know fabulous officiants in the Sedona area that I highly recommend, or can help you find one in other locations as well.

This depends on your location, amount of people, and setup. If you are interested in a State Park, National Park, or BLM land, plan on needing one. This also affects how much planning time you will need, as they can take 30-60 days depending on the land manager. For many National Forest lands a permit is not needed for small elopements without setups (arches, benches, free standing decor).

While I mostly work in Arizona and Utah, I have family members living throughout New Mexico and Southwestern Colorado (where I moved from). I spend much of the summer months up in the mountains to escape the heat.

Believe me when I say this is the rule, not the exception.  Most people feel this way, including almost every couple you see on my site!

I will watch the way you interact, and guide you with activities that bring out real emotions and connect you to each other.  Some moments you may even forget I’m there!  The joy and connection you feel for each other are what make great, flattering photos.  We will make sure to grab a few of the standard portrait style shots, but the vast majority of our time will be spent capturing you being you.

Absolutely!  I 100% want to meet (and photograph) them.  I do suggest having a family member or friend available to help with them so you can relax and be present during portraits without them.
